Naming celebrant in Somerset
The birth of a baby is a joyous and special time and often a time to be celebrated and marked. Traditionally baby christening ceremonies held in religious settings fulfilled this role. However, for our modern times, where religion is not always a key feature in people’s lives, naming ceremonies are beautiful alternative. As your Independent Family Celebrant, living in Somerset, between Taunton and Bridgwater, I can provide you with a non-religious ceremony or one that includes particular spiritual, pagan or faith elements. Like my other Celebrant ceremonies, the key is providing you with a unique, personalised ceremony that reflects your character, style and desires.
About our naming ceremonies
Naming ceremonies can be held in any venue, at any time and day, and often include poetry and readings, the background to the child’s chosen name, music to welcome the child to the family and community. Family and friends can be involved in any way, for example giving readings, making commitments to the child and parents for support in their upbringing and life.
Other elements can be included including tree planting, time capsule sealing, writing a wish book, unity candle ceremonies, handfasting ceremonies binding the life guardians and child together to suggest but a few. The only limitations are our imaginations. Sometimes couples choose to renew their wedding/commitment vows at a naming ceremony and this can be a beautiful element to incorporate.
As a reminder of your special day a commemorative personalised parchment is included, and this can be signed by parents and life guardians during the ceremony. You will also receive an A4 keepsake presentation copy of the ceremony in a folder. Larger A3 size parchments are also available.
